IT Infrastructure Matters Because Business Outcomes Matter

surjit HQ1Technology innovation such as Cloud, Big Data&Analytics, Mobile, Social Business and Security Practices are changing the way we do business. How we build our IT infrastructure to react to these trends matter.  In a recent study commissioned by the IBM Institute for Business Value, 750 C-level executives from 18 different countries and 19 different industries were surveyed to gather information on how much their IT infrastructure really matters in their business decisions and outcomes.  The results showed that 71% of those surveyed believe IT infrastructure enables competitive advantage.  But, less than 10% are fully prepared to meet the demands of new technology trends.  What can businesses do to help themselves prepare?

I am creating a series of blogs to dive deeper into social, mobile, cloud and big data & analytic innovations to demonstrate how business can design and implement an IT infrastructure to achieve better outcomes.  To drive discussion on the topic I will start with a broad look at how innovative technologies are really changing the world and what industry leaders are doing to ensure their IT infrastructure is ready.

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of providing the keynote address at the Enterprise2014 Conference in China to discuss specific examples of how companies are reacting and preparing for business challenges.  Please take a few moments to hear how businesses are taking on these challenges and share your thoughts.  I look forward to discussing your perspective on this.
